HONEY KUSH
HONEY KUSH
Honey Kush was first created by the European breeders, Sumo Seeds. This strain is a cross between Super Widow, a hybrid of the “White Family” and the African landrace-derived Swazi Poison. The large flowers of this plant have a sweet, candy-like aroma which lend to the “Honey” aspect of its name. Although this strain is not derived from any landrace based strains from the Hindu Kush region, I believe it has been given the moniker, Kush, because this hybrid has a heavily indica-dominant profile. This indica-dominant profile enhances the calming and relaxing effects of the strain. Similar to the Grape Ape, Honey Kush helps the user to achieve a peaceful night's sleep.
When I think of Honey Kush it makes me think of golden hexagonal honeycombs filled with naturally infused cannabis honey. The chemical compound represented on the front of the shirt is the chemical compound for THC molecules. So it represents the idea that THC is the "honey" of the plant. The concept of naturally infused cannabis honey inspired a vision of planet earth where humanity had been extinct for hundreds of years. All the high THC producing indoor plants that had survived, adapted to become landrace strains. The queen bee on the side of the shirt belongs to the species of bee that has ensured one of these strains' survival. This bee has developed a symbiotic relationship with the strain because it favored the sweet flavor, bright light color and psychoactive/healing effects it would infuse into their honey. After decades of this symbiosis, the bee's appearance has become adapted to the likeness of the plant.
